Immunolabeling
There are several protocol variations depending on the type of sample. Click the buttons below to move to the desired variant. To improve penetration of antibodies into large, intact tissues, we recommend using active staining with a SmartLabel or SmartBatch+.
The technology used in SmartBatch+ and SmartLabel is based on a modified protocol from a 2019 paper by Dae Hee Yun et al. You can read more here.
Passive labeling is possible, especially for very small samples. If your samples are small (50-200 µm slices), normal IHC protocols as recommended by antibody manufacturers can be followed. For larger samples, passive labeling is not always successful and requires experimentation.
Use this protocol if you have access to a SmartBatch+. Read about the benefits of a SmartBatch+ device here.
Use this protocol if you have access to a SmartLabel. This is a legacy device that is no longer sold.
