Setting Up a Ring Stand
If you are using a batch cup, you will need to set up your samples in a lock ring. The lock ring has two components that lock your samples in mesh bags together.
You can use this lock ring to incubate all of your samples together by loading your sample onto the lock ring, resting the lock ring on the ring stand, and putting everything into an incubation jar.
Loading samples onto a lock ring:
- Place the bottom piece of a ring lock on a ring stand.
- You will need one mesh bag per sample. Take the mesh bags out of their storage solution, rinse them in tap water and then DI water.
- Place each sample in a mesh bag – one sample per bag. Keep track of which sample is in which bag.
- Slide each mesh bag onto the slits on bottom of the ring lock.
- Attach the top of the ring lock and twist to lock.
- Fill an Incubation jar with around 220-250 mL of the desired buffer.
- Place ring stand with samples and ring lock into the incubation jar.
